Whats different now that you are gold?

This morning the team at Investors in People responded to our Tweets about being awarded the Investors in People Gold standard by asking a very good question; "Fantastic achievement! Whats different now that you are gold? How will you celebrate?"

It prompted some thought from us and Phil Gillard, our general manager, had this to say, "With the Olympics on our minds at the moment, we should try and draw some analogies with our cyclists and rowers.

"Like them our gold status achievement is as a result of “training”; a program of continuous improvement which has been going on for many years. In the same way that Bradley Wiggins will have a team of physios, fitness coaches, nutritionists and sports psychologists all working towards a common vision, having a successful approach to employee engagement involves everybody in the company working together under a common purpose. It requires a balanced approach, resulting in having happy staff, which we strongly believe creates happy customers and delivers good financial results to our happy shareholders.

Our newest employee, Wasim Aktar, and longest serving employee, Geoff Brown,
with Phil Gillard and People and Culture Manager Louise Potts - celebrating Gold!

"So what do we do now?" Gillard concluded. "Most of us will take a well-earned break during the summer, returning for the next stage of improvement in anticipation of the next competition - our next financial year!"

So, the nice folk at Investors in People have an answer! What do you think?
