Wonderware in Practice R2 event dispels common misconceptions around ArchestrA Graphics

Our Wonderware In Practice R2 event took place yesterday at our HQ in Cheadle, and despite traffic disruptions we had an impressive turn out with System Integrators (SI's) and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) coming from across the country  We also welcomed one of our Premier Partners, Cougar Automation,  to find out about the latest versions of the software 2012 R2.

The event kicked off with InTouch  - the world’s leading SCADA software and a discussion about the use of ArchestrA Graphics (the latest graphical improvements for InTouch available from version 10.0 onwards).

During this session we got some insight into the myths surrounding ArchestrA Graphics and three obvious misconceptions were highlighted:

-   -  Our SI’s were unsure how ArchestrA Graphics fit in an standalone InTouch environment and        whether they needed to purchase something else to get the added functionality
     -  Some customers didn't  have an awareness of ArchestrA Graphics capabilities, were
unsure of the benefits and how it helps ease development
-     - That a systematic approach is not possible when upgrading systems

To help alleviate these concerns we took the customers through an in-depth hands on session. This was focused around the ease of creating dynamic graphics, in the similar way you would use indirect addressing, in standalone InTouch.

It’s now understood that there is a slight change to the traditional way of working - to achieve this new .net enabled functionality. There is a seamless integration between the IDE and Window Maker to make  use of the more intuitive development techniques.

The SI’s commented how easy it was to use and create functionally dynamic graphics.

The ability to import standalone applications, and systematically add the newly developed ArchestrA Graphics was discussed as a fundamental part of the software migration.

The rest of the event was spent discussing up and coming trends in the Industrial IT world, such as Mobile, Alarm and Thin Client Technology. As well as a major focus on what’s coming in the next 2014 release including extra configuration in graphics and objects, multi-user apps for InTouch, alarm shelving and the situational awareness library.
