System Platform User Group

All attendees had varying levels of knowledge and experience with System Platform with the main aim of the event bringing users together to share, learn and network with each other. The event kicked off with a morning session focused around Cyber Security.

Topics covered included:
  •          Linking security to your business requirements
  •          Steps to Securing your IT Control Systems
  •          The Importance of Security Awareness Training
  •          What’s coming for System Platform 2014

Ivan Brooking, Technical Manager at Babcock International (a company responsible for the baggage management at Heathrow Airport) kindly presented on the success of their System Platform installation.

Ready for the Tour
Babcock International also arranged an eagerly awaited tour of the Baggage System at Heathrow Terminal 4 for the afternoon to really show the capabilities and achievements System Platform has bought to their business. During the tour customers got a back stage pass into the baggage hall, and saw the journey it takes from drop off to the actual aeroplane and how this is managed centrally using System Platform. Customers also got an inside view of the baggage handling control room, technical bases and maintenance office.

Babcock International use System Platform at Heathrow to manage the maintenance of machinery - of which there is an abundance. Since the install Babcock have witnessed remarkable benefits including fault finding, reduction of faults and spare requirements. The system has also enabled Babcock to redeploy resources into other areas of the operation to better utilise their time. There are future plans to grow this system even further to include mobile alarming and other key capabilities.

Overall the event was a great success with positive feedback from attendees; “This session has been worthwhile and very interesting, ” (Leading Nuclear Company),  “Thank you for an excellent day!” (International Food and Beverage Company).
