Marathon achieves Invensys certified partnership

~ HardwarePT’s fault tolerance and disaster recovery offering for SCADA improves as a result ~

HardwarePT’s strategic software partner, Marathon Technologies, has been awarded Certified Partner status by Invensys Operations Management. Invensys also owns the Wonderware brand, which in the UK is distributed by SolutionsPT, of which HardwarePT is a division. As a result of the new certification, HardwarePT’s fault tolerance and disaster recovery offering for supervisory control and data acquisition applications in a virtualized environment has improved.

Marathon Technologies’ everRun MX product is an easy to use and affordable availability option for manufacturing operations and ideal for running ArchestrA System Platform 2012 and Wonderware InTouch 2012. The fault tolerant product uses virtualisation to ensure 24x7 operations, zero downtime and zero data loss for businesses.  Marathon’s everRun MX is also the first software-based, fault tolerant solution that supports single and Symmetric multi-processor and multi-core Microsoft applications.

By certifying everRun MX to run ArchestraA System Platform and InTouch, Marathon now provides an even stronger guarantee of functionality.

One of the unique benefits of everRun is its SplitSite feature, which allows you to link machines situated on two different locations. SplitSite delivers true disaster resilience by maintaining application availability between systems located on independent sites. If disaster strikes one data centre, applications and data are still available, up-to-date and fully operational at the other location, without any downtime.

EverRun MX provides full fault tolerance to multi-processor applications that require zero downtime. Using patented technology, everRun MX combines the physical resources of two standard Windows servers into a single operating environment with complete redundancy of all underlying hardware and data. everRun MX presents these redundant servers as a single operating environment to keep applications running in the event of component or system failures.

The everRun MX software operates in lockstep ensuring redundancy of the hardware, data, and networks, to provide automated fault management. This ensures true continuous availability for applications that simply cannot have any downtime, or lose 'in-flight' transactions.

“This means that if one of the servers encounters problems, you’ve still got the other server there,” explained Rob Dinsmore, the Product Manager for Availability Solutions at Hardware PT. “On its most fundamental level, this is what fault tolerance means; all memory transactions and processor cycles on both servers are lock-stepped together, so the two machines behave as one. Having doubled the components at the hardware layer it delivers fault tolerance. We are hugely excited about the product passing through the Wonderware Certification process and anticipate it delivering an extra level of confidence for customers,” he concluded.

“Marathon is a long term strategic partner with Wonderware and the certification of our everRun MX platform is testament to this. Our synergy with Wonderware extends beyond the technology alliance and we actively engage with extremely capable Wonderware channel partners such as Hardware PT in the UK.  The partnership with both Wonderware and Hardware PT delivers an alliance that allows us to add unique value to our mutual customers,” explained Nick Turnbull, VP - EMEA & APAC at Marathon Technologies.
